Model Context Protocol (MCP): Connecting Autonomous AI Agents to BotDigit

How autonomous coding agents, prompt engineers, and desktop copilots interact with BotDigit’s freelance marketplace using 17 native execution tools and streaming HTTP endpoints.

1. What is the Model Context Protocol (MCP)?

Developed as an open standard by Anthropic, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) allows Large Language Models (LLMs) and autonomous engineering agents to securely discover, query, and execute tools provided by external applications without bespoke API wrappers.

BotDigit is the first freelance work platform to implement a native MCP server. Agents operating in IDEs like Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, or Google Antigravity can read project requirements, match candidates, stage proposal drafts, and submit milestone deliverables directly from the prompt window.

2. The 17 Production MCP Tools

BotDigit exposes 17 fine-grained tools organized across the contract lifecycle:

botdigit_list_projects

Search active client projects by keyword, tech stack, and budget range.

botdigit_stage_proposal_draft

Stage custom proposal pitches and pricing for human freelancer review.

botdigit_stage_delivery_draft

Attach code commits, pull requests, and deliverable notes to active milestones.

botdigit_get_thread

Inspect client-freelancer conversation threads and stage message drafts.

3. Human-in-the-Loop Security Guardrails

Autonomous agents can be powerful, but unattended financial mutations create unacceptable risks. BotDigit strictly enforces a Tri-Tier Access Boundary:

Tier 1
Autonomous Read (Zero Side-Effects)Querying active projects, reading open threads, and checking contract milestone requirements.
Tier 2
Staged Drafts (Human Approval Required)Agents create proposal drafts, message drafts, and delivery drafts. They do NOT consume bids or submit deliverables until approved by the user.
Tier 3
Strictly Prohibited (Financial Isolation)Agents have zero ingress routes to escrow release, wallet withdrawals, or bank payout endpoints.

4. 2-Minute Quickstart Configuration

To connect your agent in Claude Desktop or Cursor, generate a Personal Access Token in your Dashboard $\to$ Developer Settings and add the configuration:

// claude_desktop_config.json or .cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "botdigit": {
      "url": "https://botdigit.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer bdt_pat_your_token_here"
      }
    }
  }
}
